A scientific/spiritual narrative of the evolutionary epic of the cosmos.

The principle goals of Religious Naturalism (science, spirituality, stewardship) congeal to form a strong environmental point of view to our life on Earth. It unites science and religion and spirituality with an ecology that connects us to the natural world around us. It is a way of realizing the interconnectivity that is and has always been. It is insuring that the Epic of Evolution does not end.

Epic resolves, we shall:

✅ accept responsibility for the future of our species and planetary life.

✅ manage and do those things necessary for the continuation of this life.

✅ hold life, in its many forms, as a revered process.

✅ stand in awe and wonder of life but not more so than for what it is

✅ take on sustainability as a moral commitment and not exhaust the non-renewable resources of the Earth.

✅ disturb the face of the Earth no more than is needed and strive wherever possible to preserve its inherent beauty.

✅ balance the needs of ourselves, tribe and nation to maximize the future of a necessary global society in harmony with its ecosphere.

✅ limit human population to the carrying capacity of the Earth’s ecosystem.

✅ aid the continuation of life by understanding it to the best of our ability.

✅ embrace the apparent self-sacrifices that may be required to promote these resolves seeing them as intelligent self-interest.

Most people concerned about the environment and the ecology of the biosphere should find these resolves worthy of a sincere commitment.

Religious Naturalists consider Nature sacred. This claim justifies a morality with environmental concerns. They try to live in accord with Nature and in harmony with what they consider sacred. This results in their ecological concerns and doing something to protect the Nature that connects them to the ultimate reality.

They seek a relationship between themselves and the world of which they are a part of and dependent upon. They wish to write an evolutionary epic that is a grand never ending saga – in a sense, a 21st century Bible.

Loyal Rue writes “Religious Naturalists will be known for their reverence and awe before Nature, their love for Nature and natural forms, their sympathy for all living things, their guilt for enlarging the ecological footprints, their pride in reducing them, their sense of gratitude directed towards the matrix of life, their contempt for those who abstract themselves from natural values, and their solidarity with those who link their self-esteem to sustainable living”. The Epic of Evolution is Everybody’s Story, the Great Story, the Universal Story with Sacred Depths to it.
